The chains of glucose will spread out and some will break.

Glycogen would then be more abundant, and would insure the normality and stability of the blood sugar level. The project gives students an opportunity to propose experiments suitable for possible flight aboard the Space Shuttle. The purpose of the Space Shuttle Involvement Project is to stimulate interest in science and technology by directly relating high school students to a space research program. "This is an annual event, and people throughout the United States will be submitting proposals," Ransom said. "I feel students should be honored to have the opportunity to submit a proposal as a space shuttle project." REGIONAL WINNERS will receive special certificates of Recognition and they will also get an expense-paid trip to a space shuttle symposium held at the NASA research center.

The winners will be chosen on creativity and originality, scientific validity, appropriateness and organization and clarity. "The proposals for all of us required quite a bit of research, especially on finding something to write about," Huey said. "It was time consuming but also very educational because I learned about things I hadn't known. Roger Huey and Adrian Ware, all students of Cornell Ransom's Physics class Miss Farmer proposed an experiment dealing with blood flow entitled: Zero-Gravity Brings About Changes in the Flow Which Brings About Changes in Human Character.

At zero-gravity the direction of the blood flow-changes and may cause the character of the human to change. This experiment would be performed by 10 men. Five would be observed and their daily routine would be recorded on earth, while the same would be done with those inspace. By proving this hypothesis true, scientists would have many questions to answer and many corrections to make before advancing to life in space. "Easier Production of Urokinase" was submitted by Roger Huey.

I'rokinase is an enzyme used to dissolve blood clots. It is very expensive to produce urokinase on earth; however at zero-gravity this enzyme might be produced much easier. If this experiment is a success, urokinase might be produced in such large quantities that it would become less expensive and therefore be available to more people.
